Indian Child Welfare – Title II

 

The Program provides Indian Child Welfare Services.  The services include case management and advocacy, liaison-referral services, foster care and adoption services and preventive services for at risk families.  Program is responsible for court and child welfare notices under the Indian Child Welfare Act, certifies homes for placements and monitors both state and tribal court proceedings.   The program services are exclusively for eligible or enrolled Iowa tribal members across the state of Oklahoma and limited services for tribal members across the country.   Program and Services funded through the Bureau of Indian Affairs, Department of Interior.

 

Foster Care and Adoptive Services

The tribe has an agreement with the state of Oklahoma to maintain foster homes for out of home placements for Iowa tribal children and Native American children in the service area.   The program has the responsibility to approve and certify homes under the tribal standards, policies and tribal codes.  The foster care reimbursement payments are managed by the state of Oklahoma Department of Human Services-Child Welfare Program and Services.

 

Title IV-B –Child Welfare Services

 

The Program provides support to the ICW program for the provision of child welfare services.  Casework services, prevention services, child abuse awareness, foster care training, crisis intervention, transportation, assisting foster homes and referral resources are available.  Services are provided to at risk households and current child welfare cases and referrals.  Eligible households have to live in or near the service area of the Iowa Tribe and provide documentation of tribal affiliation.  Program and Services funded through a grant from Administration for Children & Families, Children’s Bureau,

 

Promoting Safe & Stable Families

The program provides case management to reunify families, focused case work to preserve families at risk and support services for foster care and adoptive families.  Home based interventions, parenting classes, foster care trainings and educational awareness activities are provided.  Program is funded by the state of Oklahoma, Department of Human Services –Child Welfare Services.
